Spiritus Coffee Co. is a specialty coffee roaster based in Lombard, Illinois, founded in 2021 by Jason Holman and Nick Bianco. We roast fresh, small batch, ethically sourced coffee inside the School of Expressive Arts and Learning, giving S.E.A.L. Adult Transition Program students real vocational experience through every step of the coffee business. Our motto is Sip in the Moment.

Our roastery sits inside the School of Expressive Arts and Learning in Lombard, IL, where S.E.A.L. Adult Transition Program students learn vocational and life skills through the coffee business. They roast, label, pack, and fulfill; more than a dozen interns trained, several hired, over a thousand orders shipped. Every purchase directly supports this work. We roast a changing lineup of single origin and blended specialty coffees, most twelve ounce bags between $18 and $20, plus rotating micro lots like our Wush Wush Ethiopia Natural Process. Current coffees include the Spiritus Signature Blend, Aether Dark Roast (a Guatemala and Brazil blend with bittersweet chocolate and roasted almond), Lilacia Blend (named for Lombard's Lilacia Park), Costa Rica Crisol, and Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Lucent. Every coffee we roast cups eighty five or higher. Browse all our coffees.

We recommend starting with our Lilacia Blend or the Aether Dark Roast, both approachable and well liked. If you want something with more complexity, try a single origin like Costa Rica Crisol. For a gift, our Spiritus Sampler (four bags, four ounces each) is $32, or the Best of Spiritus set (four bags, twelve ounces each) is $68.

Yes. Our Colombia Valle del Cauca Sugarcane Decaf ($19) is one of our most requested coffees. It is decaffeinated gently with the sugarcane process, which preserves the flavor beautifully; tasting notes include milk chocolate, brown sugar, roasted almond, and subtle citrus. Available in whole bean or ground.

Yes. Our coffees are available as whole bean, ground for auto drip, or ground for French press. Select your preference on the product page before checkout.

Yes. We carry select brewing equipment, including the Aiden Precision Coffee Maker ($399.95) and our 360 Traveler Tumbler ($32.95), a double walled stainless steel tumbler with a 360 degree sip lid. Shop our full collection.

We do not have a traditional retail storefront. Our roastery is inside the School of Expressive Arts and Learning in Lombard, IL, so visits need to be scheduled in advance. We welcome them; contact us to arrange a time.

Yes. We do pop up events, tastings, and catering for corporate events, markets, and community gatherings, and we set up at the Lombard farmers market on Tuesdays in season. Get in touch and let us know what you are planning.

We recommend freshly ground coffee, filtered water, and a ratio near 1:16 (one gram of coffee to sixteen grams of water). Our coffees work well with pour over, drip, French press, and espresso. See our brewing methods guide for detailed instructions.

Yes. Our coffees make excellent cold brew. We recommend a coarse grind and a twelve to twenty four hour steep in cold water. The Aether Dark Roast and Lilacia Blend are particularly good for it. Read our cold brew guide.
